Rank
A 3D treasure hunt in a castle that never ends. Run, jump and double jump through vaulted halls that build themselves as you explore. Royal chests refill your lantern, and ghost wisps knock coins loose or drink your oil. The run ends when the light goes out.
The gnome and the castle pieces come from the Three.js Agent Game Starter by bandinopla (MIT license). The castle kit is Modular Dungeon by DJMaesen (CC BY 4.0). The music plays instrument recordings from the FluidR3 GM SoundFont (CC BY 3.0). Rendering with WebGL2. Your best score stays on this device.
Gnome Hoard is a free 3D treasure hunt game that runs in your web browser. You guide a garden gnome through an endless castle of vaulted halls, narrow corridors, crypts and stairways that climb and drop between floors, grabbing gold coins and gems and opening royal chests. Your lantern slowly runs out of oil, and each chest refills it. Ghost wisps haunt the deeper halls. The run ends when the light goes out.
Yes. Gnome Hoard is free, with no account, no ads and nothing to install. The whole game runs in your browser. Your settings and best score stay on your own device in local storage, and your runs are never sent to a server. The site counts visits with Google Analytics.
Move the gnome with WASD or the arrow keys, jump with Space or a double-click, and jump again in midair for a double jump. Hold Shift to sprint, and click the castle to steer the camera with your mouse, or turn it with Q and E. Follow the coin trails through the arched doorways and the golden light beams to each royal chest. On a phone, use the left thumb stick, the Jump button, and drag on the right side to look around.
No. Gnome Hoard builds the castle one room at a time as you walk, snapping together floor tiles, walls, stone vaults, columns, arched doorways and staircases from a modular dungeon kit. Stairways lead to floors above and below, with no top or bottom. Every run builds a new castle, and within a run the same halls are there when you come back. The number in a capture's file name is that castle's seed: add ?castle= and the number to the page address to walk it again. Rooms farther from the start hold more wisps, and the lantern burns faster the farther you go.
Yes. Gnome Hoard supports standard gamepads such as Xbox, PlayStation and Switch Pro controllers through the browser Gamepad API. The left stick runs, the right stick turns the camera, A or Cross jumps, the right trigger sprints, and Start pauses. Controllers with rumble shake when you open a chest or get hit.
It depends on the wisp. A blue ghost wisp chases you, and its touch makes the gnome drop up to 10 coins, which burst out in two rings like the rings in Sonic the Hedgehog. You can grab them back after a short moment, and they blink out after about four seconds. Deeper in, violet darts hang still for a moment and then dash straight at you, and broad green glooms drift slowly and drink 8% of your lantern instead of taking coins. The gnome is safe from wisps for two seconds after a hit. A wisp never puts the lantern out on its own; the run ends only when the light runs dry.
Each coin is worth 10 points and each gem is worth 50, and a gem also tops up your lantern a little. Grab them in quick succession to build a combo, which multiplies their value up to four times. Each royal chest adds 250 points and refills a fifth of your lantern, and each new room you enter adds 25 points. Ranks run from C up to S. The Relaxed lantern setting makes the oil last twice as long, and relaxed runs keep their own best score.
Gnome Hoard runs in current versions of Chrome, Edge, Safari and Firefox on Windows, macOS, Linux, ChromeOS, iPhone, iPad and Android. It draws the castle with WebGL2 and lowers its render resolution automatically on slower hardware to keep movement smooth. Touch controls appear on phones and tablets.

Yes. Press Watch it play on the title screen, or add ?autoplay to the page address and it starts on its own. The gnome hunts for chests, gems and coins, explores new floors, and still gets knocked around by ghosts, but its lantern never runs out, so the run never ends. Move or press P to take over.
